How To Write SEO Optimized Blog Posts For Better Rankings

As a website owner, you know that blogging is a great way to gain traffic, attract new customers or followers, and grow your brand. But what you may not know is that there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about it.  If you want your blog content to be effective, you need to know how to write SEO optimized blog posts the right way.

Why?

To help you gain better rankings in search engines, like Google.  It’s pretty easy to do if you follow the 5 simple tips I’m about ready to share with you.

Let’s get started.

First, What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving the ranking of your website on search engines.

The higher your site ranks, the more likely people are able to find your website.  Basically, SEO is free traffic to your website!

It does take time to build up, but optimizing your blog posts for SEO will help ensure that your website is seen by as many people as possible.

Why SEO Optimized Blog Posts Are Important For Search Engines

Search engine optimization is important because it helps your content to be found for FREE.  That’s right, no pay-per-click, just good old fashion organic traffic comes your way when you know how to optimize your blog content the right way.

When your content is optimized, it means it is written in a way that makes it easy for search engines to index and rank it.

That in turn, leads to more people seeing and reading your original content.

For one, it helps ensure that your content is found by people who are searching for it.

Second, it helps you attract organic traffic to your website, which leads to more followers, customers, and sales.

Finally, by optimizing your blog posts you build authority and credibility in your niche.

So you may be wondering what are some simple ways to optimize your blog posts for SEO?

5 Simple Ways To Write SEO Optimized Blog Posts

Follow these five easy tips to write a SEO friendly blog post the right way.

1. Use keywords throughout your post.

Keyword research, keyword research, keyword research…is what it boils down to.

You want to go after low competition, high volume keywords in your post.

For example purposes, I researched the keyword phrase ‘low competition keywords’ via a free keyword research tool offered by Google.  As you can see, this keyphrase has ‘average monthly searches of 100 to 1,000 visits’, and the ‘competition is low’.  This would be a great keyword phrase I would consider writing a post about.

Keyword research is essential for writing SEO optimized blog posts. You need to find out what people are searching for in relation to your topic, and then use those keywords throughout your post.

This allows your content to have a better chance of being seen and ranked.

2. Use keyword-rich title tags and meta descriptions.

These are two very important elements of SEO to help search engines know what your content is about.

Make sure to include relevant keywords in both your title tag (the title of your post) and meta description (your web page’s meta tag).  See the example image below.

Be sure to choose a focus keyword or phrase for each post you write about and include it in the title and throughout the body of the post.

3. Structure your posts.

Breaking your content up into smaller paragraphs and sections makes it easier to read.

Use subheadings, bullet points, and lists to do this.

Headings range from H1 to H6.  The smaller the number, the more important it is for SEO.  H1 and H2 headings carry the most weight.  The most commonly used headings are H1 to H3.  Let’s break that down.

H1 Heading – Main Title.

This is the main title of your post and will be displayed at the very top.  There can be only one H1 heading.

H2 Heading – Main Headings.

These are the main headings throughout your post after your H1 title.  Use H2 headings to section off chunks of your content.

H3 Heading – Subheadings.

These headings further break up your content.

Structuring your posts makes it easy for the eyes to read.  Plus, it helps search engines better understand the topic of your post while making it simple to scan.

4. Include images and videos.

Have you found yourself more interested in reading a blog article when you saw images or videos?

That’s exactly what visual content does to your posts; it breaks up the text and makes it more engaging.

Additionally, to optimize your images and videos for SEO include keywords in the file names and descriptions.  For instance, in the image, below I titled it keyword phrase ‘Optimize-Image-for-Web’ since we are talking about optimizing images and videos for SEO.

5. Promote your content.

Once you’ve published a blog post, be sure to promote it through your social media and other channels.

This helps increase your visibility and improve your content’s chance of ranking in search engines.

To Wrap It Up…

SEO is a proven method that’s free to use on your website or blog to improve its visibility amongst search engines.

By optimizing your content for specific keywords and phrases, you can gain more traction to your site organically.

Again, the two major benefits of optimizing your blog posts for search engines speak loudly:

Attract more traffic to your website.

More traffic means more potential customers or followers, profits, and leads for your business.

Improve your website’s ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs).

A higher ranking leads to more visibility and click-throughs from your audience.

Again, these are several easy ways to optimize your blog posts for search engines the right way.

Remember, by using SEO strategies right away, you are allowing your blog or site the opportunity to gain more traffic, profits, and a targeted audience.  This is a crucial element of growing your brand’s online presence.
